The International Collective THE SPIRITUAL IN ART will officially begin its journey on 3 August 2026 with an initial online meeting led by Dr Valentina Locatelli .
Following the close of the international open call on 30 July 2026, THE SPIRITUAL IN ART was established as a Collective of artists from different disciplines, countries and cultural contexts, united by research into the spiritual, perceptual and transformative dimensions of contemporary art.
Promoted by Nellimya Arthouse, the project operates as a curatorial platform and a shared space for dialogue, experimentation and production. Through exhibitions, residencies, conversations, publications and interventions in conventional and unconventional settings, the Collective explores what it means today to work from a position of inner coherence, when the spiritual ceases to be merely a subject and becomes a method of research and creation.
Reconsidering the question opened by Wassily Kandinsky in Concerning the Spiritual in Art in 1911, the project proposes neither a common aesthetic nor a shared system of beliefs, but brings into relation practices oriented towards the immaterial, the subtle and the metaphysical territories of consciousness.
Research, Dialogues and Works on the Metaphysical Territories of Consciousness
THE CODE OF THE SUBTLE is an international distributed exhibition connecting works, research and activations developed by the artists in their respective countries and contexts.
The first public activation will take place on 13 September 2026 at Nellimya Arthouse, the central site for gathering, connecting and critically presenting the different experiences developed through the project.
Discover the Project →THE SPIRITUAL IN ART brings together 16 artists selected from an international field + Mya Lurgo — Artist in Residence, from different disciplines and cultural contexts. The Collective develops through the exchange of ideas, expertise, relationships and proposals; Nellimya Arthouse operates as a habitat, curatorial catalyst and platform for connection.
The Collective does not pursue a uniform artistic language, but creates a field of dialogue in which differences generate new possibilities for research and production.
The project is open to collaborations with galleries, exhibition spaces, foundations, cultural institutions, curators, researchers, festivals, biennials and independent organisations interested in supporting, hosting or co-producing the Collective’s activities.
With each partner, Nellimya Arthouse establishes specific agreements designed to support the visibility, circulation, professional relationships and growth of the Collective, in keeping with the project’s curatorial vision.
During the exhibition period, seminars, workshops and contributions by professionals in the field may be presented to deepen the relationship with the self as the foundation of every authentic transformation.
Inner inquiry is not understood as a withdrawal from the world, but as a condition for embodying, through relationships and actions, the change we wish to see around us.
These encounters encourage dialogue with people interested in the spiritual in art and foster relationships with researchers, supporters, new cultural interlocutors and potential future collectors.
