THE CODE OF THE SUBTLE

On 3 August 2026, the THE SPIRITUAL IN ART International Collective will be formally established and introduced during its first online meeting, led by Dr Valentina Locatelli.

The meeting will inaugurate a shared process of research, dialogue and exchange among the artists, centred on the theme:

A Widespread International Exhibition

THE CODE OF THE SUBTLE is a widespread international exhibition: a single project unfolding across different countries through artworks, installations, performances and interventions created in locations selected by the artists.

The Project’s Home Base

Nellimya Arthouse serves as the project’s institutional, curatorial and commercial hub, connecting the different experiences and gathering their documentation within a shared narrative.

The exhibition in Aranno will be the project’s “home base”: not necessarily the place where everything physically takes place, but the central point for gathering, connecting and critically reflecting upon its different manifestations.

What Visitors Will Discover

• sketches for the works connected with THE CODE OF THE SUBTLE;
• drawings, notes, fragments and preparatory materials;
• photographs and videos documenting the artworks, installations and performances created in different countries;
• letters introducing the artists, conceived as Mail Art / Postal Art;
• further materials and forms of documentation developed throughout the Collective’s journey.

An International Network of Places

Each artist will identify a location in their own country, or abroad, that resonates with the project: exhibition spaces, foundations, libraries, gardens, archives, natural environments, historic residences, deconsecrated churches, hotels, cultural centres or other unconventional venues.

Documentation and Catalogue

Each intervention will be documented through photographs and short videos, creating a visual and conceptual network between the different locations and the exhibition in Aranno.

A digital catalogue will bring together the works, the artists’ contributions and the documentation produced in the different countries, conveying the international, widespread and interconnected dimension of THE CODE OF THE SUBTLE.
