About

Nellimya Arthouse

A cultural microcosm in Malcantone

The languages we explore

The research developed by Nellimya Arthouse moves across a plurality of contemporary languages, with particular attention to the relationships between matter, light, environment, perception and consciousness.

Light Art, Land Art, installation and site-specific practices place the artwork in dialogue with space and landscape. Performance, digital art, video and new media extend the research through the body, image, sound and technology.

Nellimya Arthouse investigates the spiritual in contemporary art as an open field of research in which inner experience, perception and consciousness can become material for dialogue, creation and knowledge, without imposing a common aesthetic or a shared system of beliefs.

Practices in Relation accompany the exhibition projects through encounters, seminars and workshops, opening further spaces for research and dialogue.

THEN

Lugano

nellimya arthouse lugano

Nellimya Arthouse was founded in 2007 through the shared vision of Mya Lurgo and Omar Antonelli.

For eight years, its first exhibition space in Piazza Riforma, in the heart of Lugano, hosted exhibitions and projects devoted primarily to Light Art, exploring light as matter, language and a perceptual device.

NOW

Aranno

nellimya arthouse aranno

In 2014, Nellimya Arthouse moved to Aranno, into the house designed by the architecture studio nellimya: in + out desire.

Set within the wooded landscape of the Malcantone region, the new venue integrates living, exhibition and working spaces, providing a natural context for Light Art, Land Art and site-specific practices in dialogue with the surrounding territory.

International Collective | 2026–2027

THE SPIRITUAL IN ART

In 2026, Nellimya Arthouse established THE SPIRITUAL IN ART, an International Collective comprising 16 artists selected from an international field + Mya Lurgo — Artist in Residence.

The Collective grows through the exchange of ideas, expertise, relationships and proposals. Nellimya Arthouse operates as a habitat, curatorial catalyst and platform for connection, fostering opportunities for research, dialogue, production and visibility.

It does not pursue a uniform artistic language, but creates a field of dialogue in which differences generate new artistic and project-based possibilities.

Nellimya Is…

For artists — an environment for research, dialogue and production in which to develop their work, build professional relationships and participate in shared projects.

For collectors — direct access to artworks and research supported by a curatorial context and an understanding of the processes through which they were developed.

For visitors — an intimate and participatory cultural experience in which encountering art becomes an opportunity for discovery, dialogue and reflection.

For partners — an independent organisation with which to develop exhibitions, residencies, publications, events and collaborations consistent with the vision of the house.

Collezione NELLIMYA
