Nellimya Arthouse investigates the spiritual in contemporary art as an open field of research, in which inner experience, perception and consciousness can become material for dialogue, creation and knowledge, without defining a common aesthetic or a shared system of beliefs.
Practices in Relation accompany exhibition projects through encounters, seminars and workshops, opening up further opportunities for experience and dialogue.
Nellimya Arthouse was founded in 2007 through the shared vision of Mya Lurgo and Omar Antonelli. From 2007 to 2014, its first exhibition space in Piazza Riforma, in the heart of Lugano, hosted exhibitions and projects with a particular focus on Light Art, exploring light as matter, language and a perceptual device.
In 2014, Nellimya Arthouse moved to Aranno, into the house designed by the architecture studio nellimya: in + out desire.
Within the wooded landscape, the venue became a space for research where architecture, art and place enter into dialogue, hosting projects of Light Art, Land Art and site-specific practices.
Nellimya Arthouse is not simply an exhibition space. In Aranno, architecture, environment and landscape participate in shaping the artistic experience.
The relationship between interior and exterior, lived space and exhibition space, artwork and nature creates a context in which projects can develop in direct relation to place, offering artist residencies an immersive setting for research and the creative process.
In 2026, Nellimya Arthouse established THE SPIRITUAL IN ART, an International Collective bringing together artists from different disciplines, countries and cultural contexts.
Nellimya Arthouse supports the process through curatorial coordination, communication and the development of relationships between artists, practices, projects and contexts.
The Collective develops research around the spiritual in contemporary art, creating opportunities for dialogue, experimentation and production.
